Brightkite was a text-based social networking service, similar to Twitter in its early years. It was founded in 2007 and let users post short messages using a mobile app and SMS.[1]

According to Adrian Roselli, the site blocked the Wayback Machine through its robots.txt file around the beginning of 2016.[2][3] As of 2024, the site is manually excluded from the Wayback Machine.[4]
