SteamDB is an unofficial site that keeps track of changes and sales that take place on the Steam system and records them, as well as other miscellaneous related things. The Steam database replaced the previous system known as the content description record.
Operates on donations to cover server costs, which currently show no sign of slowing. Site disallows scraping as most of the same info can be found through the use of Steam's web APIs.
PM wickedplayer494 (wp494 on the EFNet IRC channels) for assistance in setting up negotiations and/or mosey on over to #steamdb on Freenode in the event the site were to go under. Manual scraping such as through ArchiveBot is strongly discouraged without negotiations taking place beforehand.
Some features could break as a result of circumstances outside of the site's control, such as Valve effectively breaking the functionality of a script that let users grab free "packages" on Steam.
