this is very optical-media centric. is that on purpose? Poofygoof 04:02, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

I've added some more info about HDDs in their various forms (i.e. NAS and docks). Some of it may not be entirely accurate - I'm somewhat new to storage hardware, but picking it up as I go along.
I think it would also be beneficial if we added some recommended hardware in these areas.

Hard drive cost

"data can be bought cheaply in comparison to other formats ($200 could probably buy one terabyte of storage), and so are the recommended format used for backups."

$200 is pretty darn steep for a terabyte now (may the technology gods bless moore's law) a more reasonable price might be less than half that... erm.. £50 or so (for a random drive from a common retailer), so $80? --Dr-spangle 22:32, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Go ahead and edit it. I don't think anybody will mind some house-cleaning. $80/TB sounds about right these days. --Auguste 07:25, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

https://digitize.archiveteam.org is down/doesn't exist

Hey, so this site is dead. There is no SSL certificate for this subdomain and just reads "Hello archive team.org!" Attempted to test this on Brave (v.1.52.129 Chromium: 114.0.5735.198 (Official Build) (arm64)), Firefox Developer Edition (v.116.0b1 (64-bit)), and Safari (v.16.5 (18615.2.9.11.4)), autoredirects to https even when attempting http version. --JessicaSideways (talk) 18:01, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
