The TV News Archive is a project by the Internet Archive launched in 2012 that preserves and catalogs recordings of television news shows and political miscellanea like campaign ads that are aired in the United States. Users are able to search through closed captioning of programs dating back to 2009 to find specific moments, which are uploaded and viewable in 1 minute segments. Full shows can also be loaned for 30 days on a DVD for US$25 (or US$45 in the US and US$75 outside, if you need it in a hurry), or at IA's physical location.

Understanding 9/11

Understanding 9/11, a precursor to the TV News Archive, launched in 2011 a few weeks before the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. It contains recordings of several American stations and a handful of international ones, spanning from 8 AM ET on September 11th through to the end of September 17th, totaling about 3,000 hours.

Marion Stokes Collection

The Internet Archive was the recipient of the collection of Marion Stokes in late 2013. Her collection of 71,716 tapes of Boston and Philadelphia area news as well as national news is being digitized by the Archive.

Stokes' collection and the effort to preserve her preservations is also the subject of 2019 documentary Recorder: The Marion Stokes Project, directed by Matt Wolf.
