Abload
Abload is an image hosting service based in Germany. It was founded in 2006 and claims to store more than 94 million images and having over 168 thousand registered users.[1] It is a popular service for embedding images on German-language online forums.[2][3] Uploaded pictures are not published on Abload.de itself, but only referred to or embedded from external sites.[4]
Abload retains pictures without a defined time limit.[5]
Status
As of early 2024, the site is running stable and there are no plans of an impending shutdown. However, uploading was deactivated at the end of 2023 due to unnamed complications.[6][7]

Originally, we just planned to expand our storage space to accommodate new images. However, this time the implementation proved to be more complicated than anticipated and raised a recurring issue that has been on the table for the past few months: the increasing effort involved and the question of whether we can sustain it in the future. This time, we took the time to carefully consider everything, which naturally took some time. Yesterday, we finally reached a conclusion, albeit a sad one. Unfortunately, we have to cancel the planned expansion and keep the upload function for new images deactivated - at least for the time being. The decision was anything but easy for us, and we are just as disappointed as you are.
Abload is excluded from both the Wayback Machine and Archive.today.[8][9]
